The upcoming fixed Femern Belt link will remove an important “missing link” in a cohesive transport and development corridor between the Öresund Region and Hamburg – which Green STRING Corridor aims to build on

The Öresund Region is situated in the northern part of Europe; and as such has vast political will for improving the accessibility to the European Continent.

The project will suggest and facilitate the start-up of new initiatives and actions for businesses, municipalities, regions and research institutions. The project will also take the first steps towards implementing some of the identified initiatives. This will take place through facilitation and matchmaking among companies, authorities and research institutions; and through the running of the project in order to establish a strong project consortium, working with applying these initiatives. The project will place a strong emphasis on creating strong networks in sectors with potential for growth and cooperation.

The project has two overall goals. The first goal is to identify the sectors and companies which will have special growth opportunities through the establishment of a green transport corridor between Öresund and Hamburg. This will be of special interest to logistics and goods transportation.  The target groups are business organisations, selected sector organisations and public businesses in charge developing framework conditions regarding business development in the Öresund Region.

Another goal is to identify the physical, organisational and legal barriers limiting the full capitalisation of the value available for the business community in the Öresund Region with the establishment of the Femern Belt link. Through these goals, an action plan will be developed with cross-border initiatives for the involved parties of the project and public authorities. This especially applies to the opportunity for Swedish and German parties to contribute to the strengthening of Copenhagen Airport's intercontinental traffic routes.
